During my work in the nonprofit sector, I was one of ten individuals honored as the recipient of Baltimore’s prestigious mayoral award, “Baltimore’s Best.”  It was for the creation and development of DIAL – Disabilities Information and Accessibility Line.  My commitment to DEI remains.  Today, as a Celebrant, I know the basic elements of any ceremony are not really different across race, age, gender identity, disabilities, religious beliefs or sexual orientation or other ideologies.  And I understand that there are nuances.  Let’s throw away old ideas about what a ceremony should include and start fresh!

We  know the old saying, “Equality is being asked to the party.  Inclusion is being asked to dance.”  If we can look at it another way, “Inclusion is being part of the party-planning committee.”  When we work together, you are the most important person on the planning committee.  I do everything in consultation with you.  You get to approve every word of the script.
